![]() ![]() The film is a must watch for the 90s lovers who continue to listen to Kumar Sanu’s hits from that era on Youtube. In closing, I would like to say, go watch Dum Laga ke Haisha with no expectations and more often than not you would leave the theatre with a faint smile lingering on your face. Watch it for Bhumi Pednekar who has shown great promise. Packed with some wonderful performances by the entire cast, the film tells a sweet story, with plenty of comic punches to keep you entertained. If you want to relive the times when life was much simpler, then Dum Laga ke Haisha is the movie for you. And kudos to Yash Raj Films for supporting a good film. Kudos to producer Maneesh Sharma for backing this wonderful project. Kudos to director Sharat Katariya for telling a moving tale simply and effectively. What else can one ask from a film that aims to do exactly that! And this once I mean that in a nice way. It brings a smile because the characters have their quirks and keeps you interested because the characters are like you and me, only with different quirks. At the same time it isn't too satirical or dark. Sure, it addresses a social flaw and how the people that make the same society are coping with it. ![]() Yet, Dum Laga Ke Haisha is not a very serious film. The bitterness, the selfishness, the momentary pleasure and the pain all come through. From the lead roles to the ones on the side you know which one is likely to behave in what sort of a way in the given situation. And that is exactly what Dum Laga Ke Haisha has. Of course, no film about ordinary domestic squabbles can manage to create warmth without ace acting by all involved. But, the balancing act left a little something lacking.įortunately, it wasn't the performances. I understand, there is always the risk of too many conversations and the danger of the run-time slipping across the two-hour zone. Unfortunately, there aren't enough of them to make events believable. It tries with the right ingredients that work well – conversations in a relationship. Sure, it falls into the historic, cop-out trap of both a quick, convenient finish and dramatizing the events. Dum Laga Ke Haisha has captured it all so well and in just the right measure to not make it dramatic and yet keeping you completely engrossed. That there is a pointer at the scores of social dynamics in an arranged marriage – pressure, gut, looks, submissiveness and so on. So, why does he get married at all? Well, he is considered a good for nothing, remember? And what voice does a suppressed lad have when he has achieved little in life, right? And Prem gets pressurized into marrying someone who he doesn't like at first look. ![]() With very little to go on, other than gut-feel an arranged marriage relies a whole lot on how the other person looks. And therein lies the crux of the conflict in the film. She is also not the conventional definition of good-looking either. She's a woman's woman who has no self-worth issues. Sandhya ( Bhumi Pednekar) is educated, mature and is submissive but won't take nonsense lying down either. He is pretty much considered good for nothing by all around and in return is cynical about the world around. In the movie, Ayushmann portrays the role of a Gurgaon-based sales manager Mudit, who is dealing with a 'gents' problem.Prem aka Lappu ( Ayushmann Khurrana) has been no good at academics and loves Kumar Sanu. The trailer of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan was unveiled by the makers of the film on August 1. The film, which is a remake of 2013 Tamil movie Kalyana Samayal Saadham, has been extensively shot in Delhi and Haridwar. Shubh Mangal Saavdhan has been directed by R S Prasanna and produced by Aanand L Rai. Watch Shubh Mangal Saavdhan's song Kanha here: Ayushmann and Bhumi will be seen reuniting onscreen after their 2015 movie Dum Laga Ke Haisha and their chemistry in the song is unmissable. The duo have also composed the music of this soulful song. The lyrics of the song have been written by Tanishq-Vayu. From their nok-jhoks to their first kiss, the song has beautifully captured the reality of every couple's bond. The song, titled Kanha, shows how Mudit (Ayushmann) and Sugandha (Bhumi) fall in love with each other ahead of their engagement. The second song of Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar's Shubh Mangal Saavdhan has been unveiled by the makers of the film today.

The Caroline-Stefan talk was pretty lame (come on, who chooses not to be with the person she loves because she wants to keep "control?") and Jo's panic attack was really just another waste of time.īut things are set up VERY well for The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 22. Now the quiet, observant kid who made good grades in school was poised to become rap's newest superstar. Aftermath was distributed by major label Interscope (Universal Music), which would have the marketing, sales and distribution muscle to take Lamar's career to the next level. Dre signed him to his independent record label, Aftermath Entertainment, alongside more established rap stars Eminem and 50 Cent (in a joint venture with Top Dawg). Titled Section.80, it was released exclusively on iTunes.Īs the buzz on Lamar continued to build, Dr. That same year, Lamar released his first full-length independent album under Top Dawg Entertainment. He also put out a fourth mix tape, Overly Dedicated. ![]() In 2010 Lamar dropped the K-Dot tag and began using his own name. ![]() ![]() Lamar and these other performers eventually formed their own rap collective, Black Hippy. He went on to release two other acclaimed mix tapes, Training Day (2005) and C4 (2009), steadily working with other up-and-coming West Coast rappers like Jay Rock, Ab-Soul and Schoolboy Q. The project was enough to get Lamar a record deal with Top Dawg Entertainment, a respected California independent label and feeder to major labels. At age 16, in 2003, he circulated a mix tape called Youngest Head Nigga in Charge, which drew a lot of interest in his native Southern California and beyond. He adopted the moniker K-Dot and began performing his lyrics as a rapper. At the very least, we made it look sexy.Lamar's family was directly touched by the violence of the streets, yet he remained thoughtful and soft-spoken, ever the keen observer, even as a child. We did our best to do right by his catalog. Kendrick Lamar makes challenging projects. City is against the less replayable but deliciously complex To Pimp a Butterfly? Is it disrespectful to those two moments to call Damn better while we're still processing it? (Shit, some of us are still processing TPAB, shouts to Lucy.) How high is too high for Untitled Unmastered, an EP of leftovers that is, in many ways, just as nourishing as some full-lengths? These are challenging questions. Who can say, truly, how much better the contemporary coming-of-age movie Good Kid, M.A.A.D. In fact, it's so strong it makes ranking his projects even harder than it would be for an equally great artist whose career has more obvious peaks and valleys. There's no debating the fact that Kenny has quite the discography for a twentysomething. The proclamation hasn't been lost on him-he's boldly held himself up as the greatest multiple times this year, including on his latest studio album, Damn. Those same pundits and fans are already hailing that project as the front-runner for album of the year. To hear the rap community and gatekeepers tell it, Kendrick Lamar is sitting on two contemporary classics. ![]() ![]() ![]()
